What I did today - 2016

Dug over and mulched a couple of beds.
Redone peach tunnel 1.

I thought I had actually done quite a bit today - guess not

I went to plant my strawberries but the ground is still hard, I don't think its thawed properly yet. Its meant to go up a few degrees in the next few days so hopefully I can get them in on one of my days off (Wednesday and Thursday).

I've really not got much done yet this year it been too cold/wet/snowy I'm starting to feel a bit behind.

Just finished re-roofing the shed..............nap time..............

Post Nap.....................put up 18 strings on the Munty for the Sweet Peas, hoe'd over a bed in the kite & put the Halo's in place for the Toms. It'll be a couple of months before they get used but it's one job less to think about.

A day from "Hell"

A load from the docks arrived! Not in best condition, only to find out it was stopped by customs full of immigrants, a mess! Yeah! Say no more! We all have to go somewhere! I'll Leave it at that!

Then it now comming upon March, seed sowing season, thought I'd nip into my garden "Buddies" for a catch up as to the plan for the year, being winter, we all seem to "ibinate" n seem to loose touch!

He's been diagnosed with alsorts, although I Know from years of Working outside being a builder, arthritis was setting in!

But has "Ticks" Where you twitch uncontrollably and has to go for a brain scan, Was really, really uncomfortable to see! And I really wish him all the very best!

But on a plus note! Have a "Post Office" attempt card, marked "Deano" so can only presume it is some prize awarded by GYO and you guys for my "Momship"

Right! I'm done!

Started the first digging of the year today......oh boy, now collapsed in a heap on the couch.

That was me yesterday Carol Sat down for half an hour after 3.5 hours on the allotment and I could barely get up again Thankfully I'm not aching TOO much this morning and the one-mile walk uphill to work loosened me up

It's worth it though when you stand and look at nicely dug beds and can visualise them full to bursting with flowers and veggies in just a few short weeks

Today I made much use of excel!

I now have a spreadsheet listing all the plants that I want to grow, on that spreadsheet I have listed:

When to sow
Where to sow (direct or undercover)
When to move to final position
Spacing
Time to mature
When to harvest

And, as a result of this I have also 'drawn up' 10cm plans of empty beds in excel.

This evening has been spent planning all our beds. All done now and I feel very proud, this is my first year and the last thing I grew was some watercress in about 1975 lol.

Spent the afternoon clearing and weeding another patch of raspberries and brambles, helped by the puppies and the chooks
I'm splitting big beds into smaller ones and creating more paths around the garden.
Imagine its a road layout There are main roads, connected by side roads, a few cul de sacs and a trampoline roundabout. No traffic lights or speed cameras though!

Repotted some seedlings but am now having to re-consider my winter planting strategy as it's confirmed that the weather isn't going to break until at least the second half of autumn and even then it's going to be a warm winter with not much rain.

Sowed some new seeds but more so I can have the pleasure of watching them germinate than because I believe the weather will be OK for planting them out next month.
