Soapy water with a bit of kitchen towel and wipe them off. Another way is soapy water in a bottle and spray the leaves. Could try and catch a few ladybugs or buy some and introduce them to the greenhouse although never tried this.Originally posted by rary View PostI have just found some greenfly and whitefly in my greenhouse, what is the best way to get rid of them, preferably by organic means, as I now have tomatoes in fruit
I bought a few double sided sticky strips last year and hung them above the plants which attracted quite a lot of them.
Even with doing all these last year I still didn't get rid of them, they're a nuisance to get rid of.
If you can't get rid of them all try to keep on top of the problem anyway as best you can as soon enough, you'll find them everywhere and on everything.

It's an ongoing task if you get them early on. Garlic sprays, soap sprays, squishing and tapes are the way to go but as Rhys has said its unlikely that you will get rid of them all. I thoroughly clean out the GH now at the start of the season and I don't introduce any old chilli plant that is infested(done that a few times
) I think it's a daily job once they have got in

I may be having a 'senior moment', would you get enough liquid from six cloves to spray or do you mix it with water......... if so how much? My greenhouse get infested every year as does the brassicas and I wonder if I could make enough to spray those tooOriginally posted by Sharpy View PostGarlic
Crush six cloves, blend them, then run the liquid through a sieve, bottle it up. Spray away.
Grow French marigolds in amongst your toms also.
Thank you

I will try the garlic, as for the marigolds I have 50 or so growing right beside the plants that have the pests on them, but unfortunatly no flowers at presentOriginally posted by Sharpy View PostGarlic

And as Ger-annie- um asked do you mix this in water or use direct
and definitely not a senior moment from me

it may be a struggle to reach the top, but once your over the hill your problems start.
Member of the Nutters Club but I think I am just there to make up the numbers

Sorry, should have been more specific. Here is the instructions for making it. I only made a low dose mixture hence the 6 cloves.

An outdoor Rose of mine in my front garden suddenly became infested with greenfly a month ago. By chance I spotted a ladybird in the back garden and re homed it to my rose. 5days later ladybird still there but every greenfly gone ( that I could see) it was amazing. That's the second time I've done that. Mind you can't find a ladybird now.
