Need to dig up some rhubarb which did not perform very well this season - having read about it , I realise it was due to the fact that it could not compete with nearby bushes. My question is , will it recover if I dig up , replant and give it some serious TLC ?

Yes. I doubt it will need any TLC at all, let alone serious TLC!! Just making sure that it has water, when it needs it / weather is dry (i.e. well into next summer), should do the trick. Planting with manure, adding fertiliser, will all help too, but they are as tough as old boots.Originally posted by Tony T View Postwill it recover if I dig up , replant and give it some serious TLC ?K's Garden blog the story of the creation of our garden

I dug my rhubarb up this spring just after it had started to grow, because I was replacing the raised bed it was in. I had to slice through the main root to get it out. It looked a little sad for a couple of weeks but soon recovered and is now bigger than ever. Its pretty tough stuff.A life is like a garden.
