  • Cucumber male flowers?

The last time I grew Telegraph cucumbers you had to remove the male flowers to prevent pollination and bitter cucumbers!

I am growing three types of cucumbers this year and hope these don't need the male flowers removing??

I am growing Delicat, Marketmore and Snakes of Sicily! Anyone know which, if any, need the male flowers removing???

Marketmore doesn't. Never grown the others.

I've never heard of 2 of those varieties Where did you get the seeds? Could you get the information from the supplier?

They were purchased in Alicante by a fellow allotmenteer....trouble is the sowing and growing instructions were in Spanish and have been thrown away!

Don Vincenzo will know about the snakes so if I get no joy I may have to PM him!

Just leave your marketmore alone Clair - they sort themselves out. They are outdoor cukes too so you don't need to give them greenhouse space.

Try googling for specific variety advice, there are some very good sites. Also you can check whether they are outdoor or greenhouse varieties.
