I have raised beds so don`t dig but to be honest when I was able to I enjoyed digging the garden as it was a great way to work off any frustration and stress, half an hours digging helped me relax.
it may be a struggle to reach the top, but once your over the hill your problems start.

        This !!!

My mind goes totally blank when I do a bit of digging - no thinking of work, family (sorry kids), or any of life's other chores.

Edit: Sorry - I just want to stress that my family are not a 'chore'.

Badly worded post on my part.

I voted dig but reading the posts it seems I'm in the minority but when I say dig I mean with a fork to put new manure into the soil and maybe add to the nutrients of the soil but having read these posts my plot is a bit clay ridden so I'll be putting that phacelia into it for next year

I physically can't dig, but it's no detriment. I just try to keep my beds filled with over-wintering brassicas and red, white and brown onions along with lots of garlic and broad beans. No space
