    I've never seem black leg in the flesh- so had to gooogle it...

    Potato blackleg/RHS Gardening

    Were they saved potatoes from last year/kitchen spuds you decided to plant out or proper seed potatoes???

      Rob your plants look pretty healthy. Like BM says something has been having a good nibble, I would look into that and give them a high potash feed, keep them well watered as that hedge won't help.

      With second earlies your looking to have them in the ground about 18 weeks or so.

        Thanks for the help everyone. Nice to know my first attempt isn't a disaster. I think the nibblers are slugs unfortunately. A recent acquisition I fear.

            Thanks for the info guys. They were certified seed Desirée. I later noticed black spots and patches on the leaves as well! I have dug them up and, having checked that the tubers were edible, am in the process of burning the entire crop. Will have to keep an eye on spuds at the other end of the garden - they are in bags and looking healthy (at the moment). Never lost an entire crop to anything before so am feeling rather gutted
            Why don't sheep shrink in the rain?

              My tatties have done the same, but I think my problem is that we had a day of heavy wind and that seems to have blown them all over. Do you think that they will survive this or is that them bu99ered?
