You only really need to thin out the amount of tomatoes on a truss if they are the big tomatoes. I've read just one for beefsteak, but I left more on than that last year, they were Pink Brandywine.

Oops. I never thin beefsteaks. They do get very heavy though and I have to do all sorts to support them
