No leeks indeed. The last ones I grew took exactly one year from start to finish and they were still not much more than 'pencil thin' when I finished!

Potatoes, leeks, carrots, parsnips, cabbages (spring, winter, savoy, red and Chinese), caulis, swede, turnip, radish, spring and bulb onions, garlic, celery, celeriac, spinach, chard, tomatillo, courgettes, winter squash, marrows, tomatoes, pak choi, lettuce, chillies, sweet peppers, aubergines, melons, sweet potatoes, peas, mange tout, beans (runner, French, bollotti and broad), sweet corn, kale, purple sprouting broccoli, calabrese, shallots, beetroot, pads of herbs and probably other stuff I can't remember

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

The private allotments near me have no water on site, and people seem to grow mostly potatoes, brassicas, onions, and runner beans. One plot has rows of bearded iris all the colours of the rainbow. What the grower does with them I don't know, 'cos I've never seen anyone there, but they are a glory to see when all in flower

                Endless wonder.

I love iris! Perhaps they just grow them for cutting?
I grow at home and I'm on a water metre. When I plant anything up it gets a good soaking, I mulch with wet newspapers and top with grass. Nothing gets watered after that, unless it's out of the water butts and the plant is in dying need!. Though I did loose a lot of raspberries last year through lack of water - the fruit just died on the plant and then the stems shrivelled.
My GH is different, toms, chillies and cues in the GH get watered most days with a hose.

"P_, you should grow indian food.'

So that's spinach, mooli's, marrows, courgettes, cabbages, tomatoes, swedes, turnips. But I use that edict from mother, to experiment too. It does depend though, on what works on the plot and what doesn't. I'm willin' to give most things a go, and if they are successful, they become indian in the kitchen!
