  • Rice ?

At the risk of seeming flippant, could some of the flood affected farmers consider this as an alternative crop?
Sent from my pc cos I don't have an i-phone.

Adam Henson had a go at growing rice on "Adam and Nigel's Farm Kitchen", in a polytunnel. Not much of a success IIRC
    Location - Leicestershire - Chisit-land
    Endless wonder.

Does it not have to be warm too? I'd give it a go - we love rice
You may say I'm a dreamer... But I'm not the only one...

I'm an official nutter - an official 'cropper' of a nutter! I am sooooo pleased to be a cropper! Hurrah!

Length of day is crucial for rice I believe...

Like MH, I watched the experiment on Adam and Nigel. Not warm or light enough.

              I'm looking forward to summer.
              The rain will be warmer.

Most rice is grown in paddy fields in South East Asia which are warm and have lots of intense tropical sunshine and humidity
