DIY drippy watering device!!

1. Buy a box of wine
2. Drink contents - Hic!!
3. Remove bag from inside box
4. Remove tap and refill bag with water.

5. Take one plastic flowerpot
6. Cut hole in side to fit tap, with lift up "flap" to secure tap (same as on wine box)

7. Adjust "drip" to suit



Could be used in GH or on planters.
Could also be filled with liquid fertiliser.................or more wine

Lol, I don't think gathering the bags will be a problem! We use the boxes to collect our kitchen compost already, but I've always felt it was a waste throwing the bags away - so thanks!

However... when you say 'remove tap to refill with water', how do you get the tap back in? Do they pull apart quite easily? I'd try it and see, but the bag's still half full and OH is sitting opposite me at the breakfast table watching in a quite concerned manner as I rip his vin to bits...

I'm sure a lot of the vine can help out here. You simply send out the wine box's, well drink the wine, it's all in a good cause, and send you back the empties. I know it's a hard task but there are those that will go to great lengths to help others.

With a title like that, I guessed it was VC who started the thread before I even read it!

You can't take all the credit for that one VC! I saved up around twenty of those bags for that very reason, and I posted about it on here several years ago. I just never got round to devising a support system for them in my Dad's greenhouse, and when he was having 'one of those days' he threw the ruddy lot away.

If you don't remember, check your back issues of GYO - it was one of the 'helpful tips' featured in the magazine.

I've been trying for years to get those bungs out, ever since a friend told me that he refills them with water and hangs them in the sun from a tree, when he's camping - then has a shower when they've heated up. I think it was the thought of him trying to wash under the dribble of water that made me interested Hope his bung didn't fall out as mine did
