    Not 100% sure but I thought red diesel was illegal for use on public roads except in certain exempt vehicles. I E farm and construction equipment.

    As to the initial question I think that's been well answered, you'd be cleaning your GH windows twice a day.

      Seems that paraffin = kerosene and is a lighter (shorter chain) than diesel, hence why you'd get the sooting with diesel, it'd burn slower, give off less heat and more carbon (soot) and more importantly carbon monoxide which doesn't do you a lot of good. Better off keeping to what the heater is designed to take......

        i use kerosene in my paraffin flamethrower available from boat yards etc 75p ish per ltr

          Kerosene was/is a registered trade mark in the USA, over here we call it paraffin.

          Never thought of boatyards we have a few in the area so will have a look round, thanks for the tip.
