the freebie seeds that were given by the mag for sweet dumpling have been a lovely surprise. Just gone pale green. Lovely sized. I too, have had lots of real seeds stuff.

i'm putting in a vote for waltham as my fave butternut, invincible as my favorite large pumpkin ,also munchkin and winter festival as one person pumpkins, just take off the lid, scoop out the seeds & add filling of choice before 5-6 mins in the microwave then eat out of the rind, don't even need to dirty the plate & they store well too
don't be afraid to innovate and try new things
remember.........only the dead fish go with the flow

Very glad I found a pack of Waltham in my first trip to the 50p a pack scramble!

I didn't realise you could microwave the small one's! Great news!

          Oh, nearly forgot!

I'm looking at getting some Crown Prince seeds and I know the squash store well whole but there's no way OH and I will get through a squash that size in one go (assuming I manage to get them to a decent size which, by no means am I taking for granted!).

What are the possibilities for storing part of one? Freezing?

I kept half of one in the fridge for a month before it started to go mouldy. (I'd forgotten about it, hence why it was in there for so long - Crown Prince). I've never had any other squash store as well as CP.

              Excellent news! Thanks, Chris.

I shall get some CP seeds ordered now.

I also found a pack of Winter Festival, Golden Hubbard and the High Sugar Mixed pack I got last year in my return visit to the GC so I think I'm set for squash for next year!

Time to sit back and wait for this years crop to be ready!

I think one of my random seeds from the mix pack is Carnival and they are doing nicely... might be time to pick one soon!

My Hunter BNS are proving to be very prolific at the moment! Loads of fruit per plant.

My Jack be Little pumpkins are very cute as well!

Time will tell how well any of them store and, most importantly, taste!

I am going to order some CP seeds also and I'll be set too!

This link might be handy (it will be for me as my BNS are only single fruits per plant):
How to grow squash - Telegraph
While wearing your night clothes, plant cucumbers on the 1st May before the sun comes up, and they will not be attacked by bugs.
