The cynic in me says it's just another way to make gardeners part with their hard-earned cash.

I THINK it harks back to the days when "the big house" had a head gardener & groups of them would try to be the first to grow "out of season" fruit & veg.

The bottom ones look like a red, are they duke of york or desiree BB?

Could well be Red Duke of York bud,will bung MBE a text this evening & find out

Dug up the last of my early potatoes today (Charlotte), and found one near the surface that had started to sprout! I've replanted it in a pot to see if it will keep on growing - first time I've attempted C*****mas spuds
