What to do with 2 week old seedlings of PS broccoli and cabbage

Planted some seeds up of purple sprouting broccoli and cabbage into seed trays and they are coming through nicely, probably about 2-3 inches high atm. But.......we have no space yet to plant them out as the gardens full and the council are taking ages to sort allotment (although been promised it would be sorted by Saturday)

So the question being shud we plant them into bigger pots and leave them there or plant into pots with a view of moving them to the allotment in the next few weeks?

I've had similar problem in that I have run out of room on the plot. I would pot them on into 3.5" pots and be prepared to go even bigger. Even if your new plot is yours by Saturday it is unlikely it will be ready for planting into unless you are very lucky! You can pot them on deeper in their new pots if they are a bit leggy too. Hope your new plot comes soon.

One seedling per pot in multipurpose compost and they will be fine for four or five weeks.

I never plant out my brassicas until they're a decent size so wouldn't even be thinking about planting in the ground when they're only a couple of days old so you're fine for ages.

Thats where my broccoli and kale seedlings are at the mo! (sat on a shelf in the garden under butterfly netting). Hoping I'll find space later but at least the dwarf kale can stay in a pot indefinately!!

I've left brassicas in pots for ages in the past, and they've been fine. Just keep potting them on into bigger pots when you can see the roots start to appear at the bottom of the pot they're in - mine ended up in quite large pots before they went into the ground. (We were relocating from the UK to France, and in my usual impatient way I'd planted loads of things ready for the garden when we got here - never thought about how much space they'd all take up! Lol . The whole trailer was packed full of pots, at the expense of household stuff we had to leave in wardrobes for a later date... needless to say that stuff's still in the UK ).
