I've just ordered a dwarf patio 'conference' pear. They say it can be grown in a small pot, but what size is a 'small' pot? What size have other people used?
Hi, I have minarettes including pairs in pots sunk in to the ground. When I potted mine last year in winter they were bare rooted and according to the instruction leaflet (which I followed) from Ken Muir it says minarette pears should start in pots about 30cm in diameter and to re pot the tree each year each winter in to a larger pot, until you reach a maximum size of 45cm. It suggests potting in John Innes No 3 soil.
(btw, There are lots of fruit tree experts on the "feeling fruity" forum next door)
