  • Should I plant them out?

Hi. My onion seedling are around 6-7 inches high. They are well hardened off. Could I plant them out now bearing in mind I'm in the north east of England and will probably get a few more frosts? They are AIlsa Craig. Thanks

If they are hardened off It should be ok you can always chuck some fleece over to start

If you are having the same cold snap as us it might be worth holding out another week or so as the cold at night will to a degree make them sulk and slow down whereas in a week or so when the nights warm up some it may prevent this.

I've been leaving mine out overnight for a couple of weeks now and they seem happy enough. In fact, I'd even say they look healthier than they did going back into the heated greenhouse overnight.

Thanks guys I think I might pop them out the week end and cover with fleece if a frost is forecast. :-)
