swiss chard transplanting

The swiss chard seed pkt says to sow the seeds where they are to grow and then thin out. I have some seedlings in a tray, will they transplant?

Mine do!! I always start them indoors and grow them on in little pots before planting out. They also self seed - so I guess they're happy doing either

So if the packet says sow outside, why did you sow them in a seedtray?

I've sown mine in modules - 1 seed per module, much less root disturbance than trying to dig them out of a seedtray.

I got impatient, the ground was sogg and was messing about in the greenhouse.. Also growing some for a non gardener friend who wanted to have a go. I don't expect she will succeed, but you gotta try.

Chard is easy to grow. Don't let them get too crowded in the seed tray though.

I sow everything except carrots and parsnips in modules. Swiss chard does fine in pots until you want to plant in the ground but it is very hardy. Last years plants are already supplying leaves. Don't pamper it - it doesn't need it.
