The weather. It causes most of the challenge and leads to other challenges (rain means slugs). Last year each vegetable grown came with it a HUGE sense of acheivement in such adverse circumstances. Inclement weather is becoming part of our growing culture but it is a heartsinking truth!

The slug is my nemesis, ive got beer traps, cider traps, tried nematodes, squashed them, salted them, pelleted them, feed them to chickens, drown them, jumped on them, stoned them, cut them in half with scissors, attacked them with a full kettle, copper taped pots, gritted the ground, used coffee grounds, used crushed egg shells and i have come to the conclusion that the slugs in my garden are like Bill Murray in 'groundhog day' the little bleeders just keep coming back!!!!
