A question about pruning

So, I didn't get round to any pruning at the end of lat year, and am worried that I've left it too late. Should I do it now, wait till things warm up a bit, or leave it till next year?

I'm particularly thinking gooseberries and blueberries, but a bit worried about my climbing rose too.

Help? Anyone out there a wizard with the secateurs? I may be brave and do a bit of pruning today, hope I don't come back to a message saying, 'on no account prune in late winter'!

Hi . I have no idea of the 'official' answer to your question, but I'm probably going to prune my goosegogs and possibly blueberries shortly too - if I can still find the blueberries amongst all the field grass and weeds that have taken over my 'fruit garden' again during the past 12 months while I've neglected it horribly. As long as there's no dire frost warnings I'm sure they'll be fine.. (famous last words??). I've certainly found in the past that pruning, or even ripping out climbing roses viciously at almost any time of year, seems to have no effect on them at all.. They seem to be indestructable. Unless you have a special genteel variety that has the good manners not to fight back . Last year I took some cuttings of some climbing roses just in case - again, no idea if they'll strike at this time of year, but you lose nothing by trying .
