Gutter peas!

I've found that flat-bottomed guttering is better than the 'U'-shaped stuff as the peas slide into a flat-bottomed trench that I make with a draw hoe much easier.

I have also used the guttering method for my peas.
However i did find the transfering into the ground really hard. How do you slide the peas out?Do you slide a little out at a time.
Perhaps i transfered too early as there was not so much root but lots of top growth (bout 3 inches) Did i perhaps transfer too early?

before you slide Peas out of Gutter soak with water and they slide out a treat hope this helps jacob

i put netting in my guttering and let it come just over the sides. when i come to transfer just water and then lift out the netting or slide it out as you have something to pull

Excellent idea! Tried the guttering method for the first time this year.............. next year the guttering and netting method methinks!

Few and far between your imputs but worth waiting for. What a cracking idea... I guess you could even leave enough net to grow them up

I have done peas this way but have yet to put them out. I have put string under mine with some ends dangling, my aim is to tie them to a stake and pull the guttering out from underneath.... should work. I like the idea of suspending guttering to create more space, and yes am a skip-a-holic as well ! it goes so well with gardeining..
