Well no, because you need a good wide gene pool to grow reliable seed. You may get results from one plant (I did) but it's not likely to be as good healthy a stock, as it would be from a wider range of "parents" ~ at least 16 is recommended in the link belowOriginally posted by BertieFox View PostGrowing the odd carrot in a greenhouse or tunnel would get better results of course.
You'd need to hand pollinateOriginally posted by rustylady View PostBut would the odd carrot under cover get pollinated in order to set seed?

Thanks for all your help and advice guys. I think that considering they're F1s and the number I'd need to get good seed, and that Tam found some for only a few quid on Ebay, I'm just gonna buy some seed and eat the rest of the carrots I bought! I'd been trying to water root the tops as well and there were no signs of life there, which isn't a good sign!

Yeh, I saw them myself but didn't think you'd want to pay a fiver for 30 carrots........Originally posted by Panoply View PostI think that considering they're F1s and the number I'd need to get good seed, and that Tam found some for only a few quid on Ebay, I'm just gonna buy some seed and eat the rest of the carrots I bought!!
