Pak Choi

Is there differant types, as i have grown some this year, and ate some last night, everybody says its a bitter taste but, what i,ve grown is really nice, theres no bitterness at all, even the baby liked it,
it looks like a stem as thick as your finger with leaves coming from it not like any i,ve seen in the mag,s they all look bulbus, any body any idea,s

I love Pak Choi - it's wonderful served with soy sauce! yum! I've never had any that was bitter, personally.

I don't think that Pak Choi is bitter either, love the stuff but then again so do the slugs in my garden so I've never been very exactly a big cropper for me!

Hello Murfe, Pak Choi comes in many varieties. I'm growing it for the first time this year. It germinates easily and grows on quickly. Eating it already. I find it delicious and not bitter at all. I certainly intend to keep the repeat sowings going to get it for as much of the year as possible. It can be intercropped with slower growing things as it will be eaten before the other crops need the space.

I have been growing pak soy for some times... I agree with the other, pak soy don't taste bitter at all, but mustard do and some of them do look a bit alike with pak soy( brassica ). I remember it grows better in a cool season so wait till end of the summer. also you get mini resprouts if you cut it. However, i'm with you Alison there was too much competition for it!
