What to follow over-wintered Onions and garlic

Fingers crossed I'll be harvesting these next month. I don't want to leave the bed empty (8 x 4 foot). I'm wondering what people plant when they harvest their over-wintered onions and garlic? Hopefully I have time to start some seeds to plant out then.

Just about anything with a relatively short growing season I'd say. I don't like to see empty space so I always have stuff ready to go out. How about salad crops, turnips, chard, calabrese......

If you start things off in modules a few weeks before the plot is empty they can go straight in after freshening up the soil with something like BFB.

I've just sown some lettuce and cabbage in to pots which I hope to transplant in to the spaces left by my garlics next month.

I'm breaking the (rotation) rules here, and putting in leeks, then more garlic & onions in October

I have white rot on most of my plot: so now I have a dedicated permanent allium bed, which is constantly topped up with new medium (garden compost & leafmould)

squash in pots desperately awaiting space - everything is so slow to ripen this year. Also I should have sown some swede by now other than that beetroot and radish for a quick turnaround. I also have some red cabbage in pots waiting for a bed - its like an NHS waiting room right now!!

I will be bending rules slightly by putting in some leeks too...
I will also throw in a few quick growers like Spring Onions, Turnips and Radish
Maybe some peas too..

Brassicas currently languishing in pots -- kale, psb, cabbage. Plus I'm liking this idea of squash, as mine are looking quite chipper in the greenhouse, with no clear destination at the moment. That's what my new cold frame is supposed to be for!

This thread has possibly inspired me to break the rotation rules too and follow garlic with leeks (I have a few spare).

Is there anything I should be replenishing the soil with before popping the leeks in once I have pulled up the garlics? is it just a case of topping up with new compost or should I add feed pellets too?

Well as solway cropper recommended, you can freshen it up with some fish, blood and bone. Remember Geoff Hamilton always advised to chuck in some muck and Fish, blood and bone. So I'll dig holes and fill them with that
