Proud owner of a grown up Radish!

Sorry I couldn't help 'show off' with my radish that I picked and ate for my lunch today (obviously accompanied by other things like my home grown lettuce) It tasted so much more oniony (is that a proper word?) than supermarket bought radishes.

Yay!!! Great isn't it? I love this growing malarkey!! Last night we had salad leaves and radishes from the garden in our salad! Even Molly Moo ate some, which is a first. She normally turns her nose up at salad

I urge you to try again!! Radishes are so easy to grow, so it was probably just bad luck...They taste way better than the "nothingy" taste of the supermarket ones too...

Very tasty looking radish!! I ate my first radish a few days ago and I agree, they are yummy! even the leaves were quite tasty, abit like kale...
My only problem is that my radishes are ahead of my lettuce and spring onions!

Moo's mum, who is moo? I'm made up with my lettuce & radish but I didn't realise how quickly they grew and I'm now awaiting my other salad ingredients too. At least I know for next year.

Rob, Tripmeup is right. I found the lettuce, tomatoes and radish the easiest so far. I've kept everything well watered & planted the seeds in the depth the packets have said. It's not too late to try again.

Pa, yes I'm truely excited about it. Got some stick from the lads at work for posting the pic on Facebook. Makes me wonder if I'm getting old but with age comes wisdom... Apparently

Kentishgal, I didn't know you could eat the leaves too. I don't know why I'm apprehensive about trying them either. Probably because I've been brought up on shop bought so anything that isn't on a supermarket shelf scares me. lol.

Awww... It's fantastic when you can get kids to eat different foods by growing them yourself or getting them to cook. Have you given her anything to grow?

My daughter got a happy meal from McDonalds (she is 19 btw) and the 'toy' was a packet of cress with a box to grow it in. It died! lol

Congratulations! I have had one mini radish - it was so small I'm not sure I can really call it a radish but it was enough of a radish to eat and it tasted divine.
