I've pretty much given up on FF. So now I grow bronze fennel I've not used it yet, but erm it grows rather large. It's pretty though.

Don't know what to do now. I have 6 fennel babies growing at the moment. Might try the eggshell approach...

Mine have never been eaten by slugs, but then, I have slow worms, so I dont know whether they aren't eating it, or they aren't around to eat it.
Keep an eye on it every day though, it will bolt overnight. Sow more in June

Unlike me to be early I'll sow more in June, thanks Taff.

Next BBQ get a big shallow flat/slightly dished pan you a lid for,lay a good thick bed of fennel fronds in it,lay whole fish on top (having stuffed cavity with lime slices & a sprig of rosemary) lid on & bung it over the charcoal for 10-15 min's letting the fennel smoke the fish, add a good splash of white wine & let it steam (lid on) until cooked through.

Sounds lovely. I'm not keen on fish though - but will give it a shot

Sounds like me sunbathing Bins, something I try to avoid these days as I end up looking griddled and dressed in oil
