Out Door cucumbers

I am going to try a marketmore i think and will grow it the same way i am going to grow my butternut squash they will be okay next to each other wont they ? not in the same pot mind

I've only ever grown them outside . Last couple of years have grown Swing (from Lidls I think) and gherkins . both cropped really well. This year tho' am trying crystal lemons and white wonder . They will go outside at beginning of june and will be grown up wigwams with the pea and bean netting tied round .

I'm growing crystal lemon outside, trained up trellis.

I'm also growing dragon's egg cucumber in large tub set in the base of a 5 tier plastic greenhouse (2m high). The shelves come in 2 halves, so I will only be putting half a shelf on each tier, so that the cucumber can be trained up the height of the greenhouse ... wish me luck!

I'm growing a gherkin for the first time this year so will be planting it in the same bed as my squash and courgettes. My mom and dad had a greenhouse when I was a kid and the one time they grew cucumbers they had some cow manure from farmer friends. They were very prolific!

Bush Champion for me last year - 3 plants did brilliantly directly sown through black plastic, cloched for first few weeks and all 3 grown up one pallet. Couldn't keep up with them so doing the same thing this year. Probably be terrible...

Gherkin indoors and ridge cucumber outdoor. I have a couple of gherkin plants growing nicely in pots now but haven't even bought the seed for the outdoor ridge cucumber yet.

Only problem with ridge cukes is you have to rub the spikes off them, but they usually grow ok outdoors.

I've been growing Marketmore for years and they've always been great whether in pots of in the ground. This year i'm also trying Picolino a finger size outdoor variety.

I've never been successful with Crystal Lemon!

I like marketmore as well but prefer burpless tasty green,I am trying crystal apple for the first time this year as well as paris pickling gherkins,I get best results by growing in flower buckets with the bottoms cut off filled with mpc,standing on top of a bed well manured last year,I then deep mulch around the pots wit straw,which keeps the weeds down,this seems to stop problems with stem rot as the buckets drain quickly and encourages the roots to grow down into the lower moist layer.
I use two arches ,one at either end of the 8' x 4' bed and tie netting between the two to form a climbing tunnel

Real Seeds miniature white cuke did well for me last year, even though I completely neglected them and they got bigger than intended: they were still sweet, not bitter

Burpless tasty green for me, because of the name and because last year it did everything it said on the tin!

I think there's just enough time to sow this year. Put it another way: the ones I sowed four weeks ago are still inside 'cos its far too cold to put them out.

They should grow fine outside, just make sure they get plenty of sun

Looking for a cucumber to grow, grew marketmore last year and looking around it seems most popular. I will be growing outdoors, crystal lemon also comes recommended, any other recommendations?

Stopped growing GH ones as they always got powdery mildew.
Grow little ridge ones under a frame.
When they get too big I lift frame tops off so they just tumble about.
The frame side still give a bit of protection.
Get lots off and they are just the right size for a salad.

I always grow the little ones, I tried Cuccini.... or something like that the last few years.
They are great, no effort, grow them up a wigwam or a bit of netting. Don't grow very tall and you get an ample supply of lunchbox size cucumbers.
This year I am going for Real Seeds miniature white cucumber. (Can't remember why, but twosheds seems to agree so they must be good.)
They have come up looking really strong. They are about three inches high.
My question is, is it too early to plant outside?
I am down in the south east. Very sheltered residential area.
