Manure question please

My brother and sister in law gave me some manure for Xmas. My question is this

Are there any plots that I shouldn't manure.

I'm hoping to grow

Onions
cabbage
sweetcorn
potatoes
strawberrys
rhubarb
brussel sprout
and psb

Any help would be great thanks

Personally I would use it on the potatoes and rhubarb to start with, keep some for the sweetcorn and maybe some for a mulch round the psb later in the year. Others will no doubt have other ideas!

Most of my garden is raised beds and big grow bag type things that sit on gravel. I think my soil is pretty poor because its mostly made up of bought compost and a little bit of garden soil.

I didn't have such a good year last year and I don't know if thats because of the rubbish weather we had or because my soil is worn out.

Sue, before you use it make sure where it as come from there is a serious problem going round I won't even try to spell the word but someone will come along and do that for you.

If you put bad stuff on your plot you will ruin it for growing for quite a few years. One of our experts will be along to explain more.

As to poor soil you could add Blood, fish and bone or Growmore to add the basic nutrients.

I got it from CPL creative Gardens its Levingtons Organic Farmyard Manure. I got 12 bags for my Xmas pressie.

I told my friends that my brother and sister in law got me a pile of shite for xmas lol

the baddie is aminopyralid. you would hope that bought manure would be safe but id you want to be on the safe side, look for the sticky thread that tells you how to test it (not hard)

That's an interesting christmas present I know from when I was young and had a plot with a friend, that too much manure on "fruity veg" can alter their taste. We had aubergines tasting a bit like horse poo :O so Id try to add it slowly or maybe diluted on these vegetables? But otherwise I think you are fine assuming it is well rotten and tested.
