tomato food

what food do you use ? reason i ask is i use shop bought ready made tom food but was wondering if anyone makes there own and what results are like .
i just bought 2 reduced 50% off bottles today at my local g c

comfrey worked well for me last year, I used it alongside wilko's own brand tomato food - didn't really notice much difference but it wasn't exactly a controlled test

Oh, I just remembered I bought two bottles of tomorite too, as they were on offer... they're still in the garage though.

I use home-made seaweed feed and whatever proprietary feeds I can find on special offer. I still have some from last year when it was BOGOF so I bought loads

I used tomorite on my tomatoes last year (first ever time growing anything) and had amazing tomatoes and soo many of them!

Tomorite for me too, they seem to thrive on it.

I like to start with miraclegrow for its nitrogen content then switch to tomorite for potash when the first fruits show.

Comfrey and nettle tea.

Perfect and most of all free!

I get organic fertiliser granules and mix those in with the compost when I'm potting up. I also leave a good 2 inches at the top of the pots. Once the fruit shows, I chop up comfrey, mix with compost and use that to top up the pots. I also use comfrey tea and worm wee - which is added to each watering possible. And, if there is any worm compost going, I'll mix that in with the compost that goes into the original pots or into the mulch.

Blood, fish and bone mixed into the compost and then used as a top dressing every 6 weeks (or as soon after as we remember ), a proprietary liquid seaweed feed, bog standard tomato food from poundland till the comfrey tea is ready, and any comfrey leaves that escape the tea barrel get chucked on top too.

Am hoping to get hold of some Comfrey this year, but will need to wait for a crop.

ive kept them overwinter i normally seek out the reduced ones at the garden center for the following year and not had any problems . i can remember one that had crystals in it but a good shake dispersed them and the toms grew ok

I use comfrey tea, and this year I'll be potting them in comfrey leafmold too

i use comfrey & manure tea anplant my outdoor ones in about 50 per cent manure....the blight still kills them about 2 days after the first ones are harvested though
