Thanks all, I think I will leave them alone for now, but clearly I need to worry if they get into the greenhouse - I've got 2 aubergines on the go!

We cooked the cauli this evening and I found one of the blighters in the bottom of the steamer. So steamed, not fried

I picked a nasturtium flower to eat just now and just noticed the earwig in time ...

They are everywhere in my garden. Everytime I pick up a pot, 7 or 8 run out. All my flowers in pots have munched edges on them (do they eat poppy flowers? I'm assuming it's them that's causing the damage). They are particulary loving my courgette's flowers at the moment. I've learnt now to pick the flower bit off before I take the courgette fruit into the kitchen to stop me chasing the bloomin' things round the worktops trying to chuck them out.
