I have a sensitive nose! (seriously, I'm not being funny.. I can smell scents/odours other people can't - including some not so nice ones. I can smell rain and snow too, before they come, pretty much 99% of the time. It was bright sun when I left the house this morning, but came back in for my coat despite weather saying yesterday no local rain. No one in work had a coat/brolly - I didn't get soaked ).

Yes, I'd agree ! Not just in terms of how dodgy it is, but also that I too find it has a smell. However, that may be because I have a mild case of MCS - I forget the exact term, but that is where the immune system becomes very sensitive to chemical and biological insult and overreacts. So I smell snow, sneeze at the presence of water on a hot day (I can't actually smell it usually though) and after being chased through half a dozen fields by a fungicide spraying tractor on a windy day, I seem to have become very sensitive to all sorts of other things. When you can't face new glossy magazines due to the eye watering smell, you know you have MCS. (Formaldehyde in the inks, in case you are wondering.)
Funnily enough, nowadays there is a theory that it is the oil based carrier molecule that they mix the active ingredient of Roundup with, which is more toxic. (Pesticides usually are molecules that don't do well on their own - they don't mix well with moisture or heat, clog nozzles etc, degrade chemically - so they are chemically fastened to a tailor-made liquid, normally an oil, that will give them the required properties.) Glyphosate itself I believe works by upsetting the plants immune system and helping diseases overwhelm it, the long-term ecological implications of which are a whole different ball game...

I do use chemical weed killers with caution, but have to say I personally would bin the lot whether they survived or not.
