Great - your first potatoes will not be your last. Home grown are SO much better. I've just had a disappointing pan of Jersey Royals - they used to be the last word in new potatoes. The outsides fell apart while the insides were still hard. Rubbish! Can't wait to start eating mine.

Only the basics bag as we can't afford nice ones with the price of food now..but very happy as they were free will be looking forward to the king Edward ,jersey royal and charlotte potatoes I planted with proper seed potatoes thought .funny thing is that the potato I planted was a main potato and they look remarkably like jersey royals don't they??it never flowered it started too but then the buds just started to fall of I touched them to look at and they just came away in my hand any ideas why anyone ..and thanks it's nice to be part of the club finally

                          Well done you.

I hate to tell you this but you joined the club, made the commitment the first time you planted a seed. Once joined it is very difficult to leave.

This first potato harvest is a promotion and then when you have eaten them it will be even more difficult to abscond.

Well done Germinater!! I can't wait to harvest my first potatoes too.

I planted a few during the first week of April, Kestrel and Sharpe's Express. Lots of lush green growth and then a few weeks ago the kestrel produced one flower, nothing more! The last few days they are starting to droop.
But I think I should wait a bit longer to harvest, or maybe rootle around to try and harvest a few before emptying the bags.
