Is it too late for 1st & 2nd earlies

I have been away from home for a while and now have some well chitted seed potatoes.
If i plant them now will they just come later than they normally would or would I be wasting my time?

Yep, I'd get them in now They mature faster than maincrop (~3.5 months). I planted some first (and second) earlies in August last year, in planter sacks then moved them into my greenhouse for spuds on xmas day.

I'd just keep an eye out for blight, as the earlies would normally be planted earlier and (hopefully) miss the blight periods.

As Chris says, go for it! Give them 12 - 14 weeks from planting and, blight aside (and it's hardly wet enough for that at the moment!) you should get a decent crop.

Defo fine for earlies,wyvale are selling the 2kg bags for 50p atm so I had to plant some more

You should be fine, earlies take 12 - 13 weeks from planting to harvest.

Thanks every one. Deffinately going to plant them, some in tubs and some in sacks and look forward to some nice new pots. Having never tried to grow them before was not sure if it would be o.k.

I planted Sharpe's Express, first earlies, half way through May last year and this year. They were okay last year in the ground but the yield from bags was pretty poor as I put five tatties in each bag instead of two or three, which is what I'm trying this year.

If I were you I'd just go for it anyway - good luck!
