Weather schmether: What can be done?

The weather up here (west of Scotland) is already delaying our already usually later growing season that is enjoyed by friends further south.
I was actually tempted to re-cloche up my poor wee seedling plants to keep them from being drookit* or wind damaged.

I've got sweetcorn bursting to be put out, ditto with courgettes, toms, a further batch of peas, beans (first sowings planted outside are really struggling as it is),
and I'm running out of space in the house/window sills and OH's patience is wearing thin!

Obviously nothing can be done about the weather but I guess I just feel better posting
and moaning about it

It's ALMOST tempting me to move south.

Now how desperate is that!

South? South? How very dare you? Remain a northerner chuck, you wouldn't want to be a southern softie now would you? The weather will get better, just be patient. It's raining here too, but we're glad of it.

Perfect description of my life in the midlands - take heart that nowhere is safe from wild winds, grey skies and wet cold weather! I am fortunate in that I am the female so OH doesn't care about plants everywhere and I can't moan because I'm doing it.

It's still ppppppp persisting ,the plants are all ,however I am waiting on a phone call to go & load 150 off 300mmx600mmx50mm paving slabs hey ho at least it will be a change from sweat beeds running off my brow

Mr PB in order to further cheer you up - it is still raining and miz here and we've jsut had a HAIL storm - My tomato;s squash and cukes are outside at home! I'm a bit scared for them! BAAAAAAAAH

Least then i won't spend my days removing my wind demolished wall

I am SO SICK of this wild, wet and windy weather now. It is nearly June for goodness sake! I cannot get in my greenhouse without falling over. I have four tomato tents housing outdoor plants temporarily and still more inside my house. This has got to stop soon surely. If not I'm moving to the med too!

Maybe are you sick of it too?! I assume it's no different in Nott'ham then? How are your dizzy toms? I liked that description - kind of sums up my "bu��er it's thrashing again, quick the cukes" or "bu��er quick help me with the ...I'm hardening off"! Then we come back in like drowned rats. It's more wet and windy here than a day out at Scarborough:-)

We've had constant wet and windy now for nearly 4 weeks - I can count on one hand the number of days its been calm and dry because I put a blowaway greenhouse up that day (and repaired a bit of wind damage to it a few days later).

The last few summers we've had this wet and windy spell from around Midsummer to September at worst, but at least all the blowaways are up and everything is planted in the ground during the good weather we usually get in May. I've now got about 45 tomato plants crowded in a 12 x 12 polytunnel with 2 rows of peas, 9 calabrese and 2 fishboxes of dwarf french beans.

I really need to get my tomato blowaway up
and planted please
so I can get in to pick
my peas with ease
