swiss chard/when do you plant it

Hi, can anybody tell me when you plant swiss chard and do you plant it in ground or in trays in greenhouse first then move outside , in manure beds or last years bed, help me please,

This is a great veggie, so easy to grow. Sow April - August, outside.Space about 18 inches apart.

i planted some white swiss chard in the greenhouse last month and put it in one of my beds yesturday under a cloche.

Thanks i have got the day off today so will get planting, but does it need freshbeds or last years manured bed,?

Sowed mine last year in cell trays, and planted out when ready. Excellent results.

i just put mine in normal compost, got some already in a sheltered bit of back garden in an old tin bath.

Growing swiss and white chard for the first time this year. Planted seeds a week ago in little pots of compost. Reading everyones posts above, they sound easy to grow. Looking forward to seeing my results. Bernie aka Dexterdog

Not too many pests either...just pick them over for green pillercats

I also sow them in modules and plant out when ready. Once planted out they really take off.
