. I'd planted some potatoes intended for Christmas, and they grew brilliantly, but a few weeks ago they started being dug up and eaten by rats. Then the dogs started trying to dig out the rats, and I had to dig up all the potatoes (not that there were many left). I thought that would be the end of it, as with the potatoes gone there was nothing for the rats to eat. We'd also put down poison in rat boxes in the hope of getting rid, and blocked off the door to keep out the dogs.
Finished digging compost into the last of my veggie beds, turned one full compost bag adding a little horse manure to it, this bag is now closed up. Emptied and sieved another part-bag into another bag ready for using later. I am so pleased with my compost this year - black and crumbly and smells nice. I hope my plants appreciate it.
