What I did today 2012-2014

I hired the digger to drain the garden. It sunk in the wet clay and ripped up the entire garden, the drains keep collapsing as soon as they're dug because it's so wet so it's impossible to judge what's going on. It's been an absolute disaster and that's after only two hours work.

Hopefully tomorrow is better, I'll be able to take a different approach with the other drains. I won't be able to go tight into the corner to tidy it up yet, The digger would be stuck there for a month and at €165 a day I can't afford for that to happen.

Have potted on lots of germinated seed (flowers and vegetables) that has been waiting a while for me. Need to do some more tomorrow hopefully :eek Have brought my Norfolk Greenhouse 5 minutes ago and brought a 3 tier greenhouse for the little seedlings taking over all of my windowsills Just need to order some topsoil for my new raised beds I put up this weekend Hope the big freeze isn't here for too long it's so painful outside in the cold. Will need to also take old glass greenhouse down to make my cold frames out of the good panes left

So blimmin' cole I let my seedlings stay in bed ......collected some purple potatoes (and that's their colour not cos they were cold) and had a coffee and a chat with a stonkin' lady at the same time......sowed some chitted peas ......sowed some broadies .......reassured my seedlings that surely the cold can't last forever....

Took the teen who missed the bus, to school. Let the old chooks out before I left. Ended up going down to referee the new/used chooks after I got back. Manners!
Decided I should wait till Shirl lays the daily egg, and then clean out their side of the chookhouse, then add that to the side gardens where I'm planning to put in snow peas and whatever else looks good at the time.
Also planning to put the seedlings into the ground today as soon as the sun loses it's bite this afternoon.
I did drop the tray of potted lettuce leaf for a friends new house! Not happy Jan!

Too cold to do much outside that had planned, had to tidy up pots etc that wind had blown over & broken. Wind was so strong it blew a guineapig hutch over & took a chicken ark into next doors garden & broke it. Cleaned out a couple of chicken huts (little ones) moved group into different hut as got broody on eggs due to hatch tomorrow. Looked at seeds again Bagged up some more garden rubbish ready to take to tip.

Replanted the mixed lettuce present that I dropped this morning. Did some mowing, but not enough. Refereed the chooks.
Assessed horses hooves. Thanks for all staying in the same area so I didn't have to walk the entire farm. And left phone messages. Off to rant now.

I potted on some tomatoes, turned trays around and bought some potting compost. The other stuff is frozen solid I mulched my blueberries with coffee grinds.

I finished draining the back garden, dug my pond and tidied up the corner of the garden. By tearing out some bushes and doing some levelling I've gained a good bit of extra ground.

hmmph, I couldn't dig mine today cos the ground is frozen . I had to buy flemmin leeks , I never have to buy leeks

A friend offered me the contents of her 2 compost heaps, so Mr Noosner and I went to get it today. It is lovely stuff, black and rich! Tuckered out after 2 hours of digging it out so it is all still in my camper van (in bags, don't worry!)

Sowed cucumbers (Telegraph Improved) with seed 69p from Boyes. Plan to grow two in the bathroom (steam and diffused light)

Well I spent 30mins at the allotment using blood, fish and bone to feed the overwintering stuff where I was bathed in glorious sunshine, sprayed with rain, hailed on and covered in snowflakes the size of cornflakes. Go home weather your drunk!

Decided it was time to further protect my peach tree I have set in a pot in the gable end of the greenhouse.
Its just starting to bud up so I know the flowers will, or should, arrive soon. To protect them Ive wrapped the tree with bubble wrap which seemed to work fine last year.
As soon as I see the little pink flowers I'll be out furtling among the bubble wrap with a paintbrush to pollinate them.
I had a dozen luscious peaches last year which never seen their way home! This year I promised 'Wor lass' a peach or two.
