What I did today 2012-2014

Nearly bl**dy killed myself on this back breaking garden...grrrrr. Pruned an overgrown tree that kept prodding me in all the wrong places. Dug over another third of the LHS. Planted up some more in Tansy's garden. Cleaned out the chooks. Moved their house and run alone. No mean feat. Scratched myself to bu**ery on roses. Fed the darned things with bonemeal. Raked until I was dropping. Did sow seeds this lunchtime - errr Brussels Sprout, Lettuce and errr something else - ah Sutherland Kale. Never grown it before so any advice much appreciated - thanks.

Sutherland Kale I can tell you needs a Loooooooooot of room it gets very big but once it gets tall enough you can plant lettuce under it for summer sun shelter

Got an hour and half after work down the lotty, cleared 1/4 of one of my first plots beds and relocated 6 self seeded chard so they could flourish in another spot. Once again lost track of time and didn't get the damn onions done.......

Built one of those little cheap plastic greenhouse things. Really pleased with it, seems a sturdy little construction for the price - can't argue for �20. Planted the last of my first earlies, two more bags of Red Duke of York. Moved the wormery outside and added another section to the top of it - last year's casts look really good started thinking about a new water butt as well.

B*gger, went into town to see someone for work and to go to a 2hr webinar. The someone won't be there till next week, the first half of the webinar was as boring as batsh*t, and the 2nd half you couldn't hear what he was saying. Had to stay in for another 2 hours as daughter is in musical and rehearsals on today, and I forgot to take my phone.
Really not a productive day - could've, should've stayed home and played in the garden!
Bought two lots of seedlings tho - brocc's and celery.

Um...sowed some parsnips, carrots and beetroot under a plastic tunnel thingy and put in my jerusalem artichokes! Hopeing to squeeze in another 45 mins of raised bed construction before the nursery pick-up!

Spent the afternoon tidying up the back garden, which was looking very sad. Still more to do tomorrow and probably the day after, but it's looking a lot better than it did.

Gave part of the lawn a haircut too. Ache like bu@@ery now, and will probably be stiff in the morning.

Planted some rhubarb and a comfrey root.
Dug up some 3 cornered leek for a Grape
Wandered around the other garden thinking about losing some of the lawn

Potted on some seedlings toms(amish and kenilworth st. george) ......do I really need so many Amish ?prickly pears (why ? where the 'eck am I going to have room for them?) ...and some echinacea ....... Sowed some (ok a lot) peppers, beetroot and kohl rabi....

I did 3 plants last year (still going now) didn't really love the flavour or more the texture but they were certainly plentiful, mine got to around 1metre + tall and bushed out about 1 metre + wide when I wasn't picking it as much.

No, VVG, I haven't sown them yet - but I'm going to grow lots of different ones and see how they do
