What I did today 2012-2014

My snow has gone now. It feels positively balmy outside today so I've moved all my tiny seedling out of the house and into the tunnel under fleece (overnight). Planted my first sowing of aubergines, a few of all my tomato, pepper and chillie seeds (first sowing for some, second for others). Put longer pea sticks in the tunnel for the so called climbing mangetout and lots of string to help them grow up rater than across (they are useless!). Cleared a relatively huge area of long, long grass with dead roots which I hope to convert into a garden over then next two years. Dug up buttercups, sorrel and docks that are reappearing around my rasberries. Actually, watered the tunnel for the first time in ages and then spread some manure on a bed that I'd just pulled some beet out of so I could give the goat a treat.

Planted some Shallot sets (Golden Gourmet) and Onion sets (Setton & Stuttgarter)..
Planted my two recently purchased Blackberry bushes....

No gardening - too much snow - but had fun sledging in the park yesterday with the grandchildren. I ache now though.

Yesterday I sowed some Broad Bean spares, some Meteor and Douce Provence peas in pots. Went for a walk/toboggan and cut down some hazel poles. Nothing today!

Finally got the go ahead from the Doc to start digging again!!!!! Made a decent start at moving the pile of hanging basket compost I got after our town in bloom was over last Autumn. Will finish it hoefully tomorrow, get the ground tilled over a bit, assuming no frost, and hopefully Wednesday or Thursday afternoon get all my onion setts in.

Bought a bargain rotavator on eBay - yippee! Lovely hubby going to collect it for me tomorrow

Yesterday went to lottie and cleared snow from greenhouse, went into town and pick up a new digging spade, then on way back to the car nipped in poundland a came out with swift potatoes 2 packs of fleece and 3 cloches.

Was down the allotment at 08.30. Nice and cold ans misty and dreary and dank etc Gor the bit I wanted finished, finished. So, that is around 5x5 metres cleared, raked and ready to rotavate this afternoon

My greenhouse is still frozen shut, and everything on the lottie still snow covered so todays another day on the 'pooter

On a brighter note the seed spuds arrived from JBA so they're now in egg boxes chitting

Oh and I cleaned out the chooks - 1.5 hours but now it's spotless, for about five minutes

Took a bag of B&Q potting compost to allotment.Planted up two seedtrays of Setton onion sets, all closely spaced! Tried to hose out chook run but hose was frozen.

- let the kids sow some seeds for me. Now I have sweet peas in the same modules as cabbages, 3 types of onions but they got the labels mixed up, and one of the modules has leeks but they couldn't remember which

Went to poundland .....two honeysuckles followed me home
Pricked out some seedlings , PW's French Black, Britains Breakfast toms and Big Red Banana peppers.
Had a rummage in the freezer and made blackberry and raspberry Jam .....

Today (or for the last few weeks) I have not been doing anything - far too cold. Those of my broad not under fleece look pretty sick.
