  • Finished off the new polytunnel, Dug a path down the middle of the tunnel and laid a few small flagstones in there with gravel around the edges....
Moved a few plants into the tunnel and gave them a water...very warm in there today, not the best day to start digging in there...it was pouring out of my head like a tap :-)

Also checked the prop and my black tomato seedlings I planted about 4 days ago are 1cm tall( was not expecting that)...maybe it was because I gave them a few days between damp kitchen roll first.

    • Planted out broad beans. Started sweetcorn chitting. Grandson picked some nettles and topped up the nettle tea container.

      • ^^^I sheared the nettles and put them in my water butt. Also picked some comfrey, which is coming up again. I popped a load with my compost and covered over my bean trench. Have planted celery today and given away spares. Also sown carrots and shared some with neighbours. Goji berry went in and weeded the saffron crocus bed. fed everything with a good dose of seaweed. Six of us were standing around talking and laughing. God forbid the thought police at the parish council find us enjoying ourselves. AND I've put orange safety barrier up for the peas. Probably contrary to clause double OO b****cks.

        • Finished digging another potato bed and planted my Maxine potatoes. Went around pulling up any dandelions that were starting to flower and fed them to the chooks.

They are a natural tonic and wormer for the chooks and they love em!

          • Potted on some kale seedlings
Cut down a holly bush and stuffed it in two wheelie bins for the rubbish men tomorrow. Nasty vicious things .............the holly leaves - not the rubbish men.

            • Came home from work, got changed and straight out to the garden. Emptied another recycling bin of potatoes from last year. Planted another 15 germinated parsnip seeds into very tall newspaper pots and left outside. Planted 15 runner beans (Scarlet Emperor) and 15 dwarf French beans (King something-or-other) in the greenhouse.

Planted out purple mange tout (shiraz) and normal (oregon). Little one sowed lettuce and radishes with me. Emptied out various old tubs from last year.

              • In the last 10 mins of lunchtime:
1 x 24 pansy tray of French Beans - unsure what variety

Assisted by my michevious gardening sprite after work:
1 x 24 pansy tray of late broad beans - aquadulce*
3 x 9 pansy tray of Runner bean - Enorma or scarlet emperor can't remember*

                * Some cells may have 2, neigh 3 beans squashed to the bottoms!

Before and after dinner until I could barely see my hands:

Potted on various indoor and outdoor toms, courgettes, cucumbers, butternuts and chillis. Potted on some kales and lettuces. Sowed another 2 short rows of Tender and true snips. Ignored spacing instructions and put the last of the red onions amongst the others (my bad).

Got to figure out what is going where!

                    • Declared war.

Six slugs in my tray of mixed salad leaves.

Launched em into my beer trap in the cold frame. Made note to set a few more around the outside of it tomorrow.

Never got stuff planted up that I had wanted to, as finished off my application for new job.

                      • Finally, finalmente, enfin, por ultimo, got the rest of the taters (Desiree) and onions (Stuttgarter) in. It looks as if the rabbit proofing we did on the fence has worked as all the rhubarb and garlic nibbled down to ground level is regrowing with a blissful undisturbed look about it. I have told Mr Noosner that a rhubarb crumble is only a week away now. Celebrations all round.

                              • Last day at work before the bank holiday weekend so I mainly thought about what I could do this weekend, including:

Evicting 50 tubs of spuds from the greenhouse to plant a load of toms. Perhaps except for a few which I'll leave in to hurry along.
Plant out my brassica beg with a myriad of plants.
Plant out the remaining plants such as onions broadies.
                                Pot on lots of chillies
Feed the local slug population with todays delivery of nemaslug
Mow the lawn - getting a bit long now.
                                Weeding!?!
And try not to be sidetracked by all the other jobs that need doing.
