Is it possible to plant cucumber plants deeper when transplanting them?

    so as long as i keep a good size bit of stem above ground, and away from complete wetness i will be ok?

      When you water, if you can do it from the bottom (stand in a saucer as Colin says) - water in that.

      If you can't do that, then when you water don't water the stem, or the immediate area around it, as that'll cause the rot.

      The trick as the others have said it to grow a couple more than you need. Like they say, you can either compost them, or give them away if you find you don't need them.

        will burying the stem cause it to rot aswell?

          If it's day in wet compost it can do, yes. The trick is to not over water!
