Whats your favourite pumpkin/squash?

I'm a bit late in ordering my pumpkin and squash seeds (I thought I had some left from last year but they have all gone!) and I can't decide what to grow.

Me and my family love 'em and in the past I have grown:

Uchiki kuri - lovely, my fave
Jack o' lantern - ok for carving but not very tasty
Becky - tasty
Squash 'Hunter' - tasty
Atlantic Giant - um...Giant!!

I have got some Big max seeds to grow this year so far.

Can anyone recommend any favourites and any good suppliers (not too expensive)?

Not great on squash but have bought some Butternut Squash seeds - not sure of variety.

Harlequin were my favourite of last year, so I now have 8 different varieties to try this season as a result!

Cut in half, knob of butter,garlic, salt and pepper and then roast for 40 mins ish! Wow. I used the bit I didn't sample to make a stuffing for ravioli served with sage butter.

I don't know if the seed will grow true but I did save loads from them if you fancy a crack? PM if you do.

Crown Prince.

i've never grown squash before so this year I am trying Butternut (Hunter) and Crown Prince, bought from Ebay so not too expensive if it all goes wrong!

Premier Seeds on ebay do a good range, with only 1 p&p charge however many packets you buy.

i grew golden nugget for the 1st time last year, small but perfectly formed fruits and a compact bush so didnt sprawl everywhere. I'm definately growing them again. Crown Prince is beautiful to look at and Ive had them in storage right through winter without any problems and they taste good too

I grew Turks Turban, Baby Bear and Jack O'Lantern last year - because I liked the names (!!). I won't be bothering with Jack this year as although I got twelve decent sized pumpkins from the four plants, they didn't keep very well. The Baby Bears I will try again as they kept well and tasted good. The Turks Turban were very attractive and had a lovely flavour but were not so prolific as the others.
I quite like the sound of Crown Prince this year and am having another go at Butternuts 'cos I love'em!

Im going to give crown prince ago and spagetti ago this year as well as others.I can let you have half a doz seeds of each if you want (not self saved) just pm me if you want them

I love growing pumpkins and squashes. Last year I grew 20 varieties, but I have to say that my favourite is 'Crown Prince' too. It's a really delicious squash that stores brilliantly.

I'm really fancying growing crown prince this year, but only managed to get 1 seed in a seed swap so fingers crossed! Haven't tried spahghetti squash, whats the taste like?

I grew harlequin last year which was quite nice, and also festival. Have around 5 varieties this year including turks turban, uchiki kuri, butternut, bonbon and chicago warted hubbard. I love squash!

I like to grow "Little Gem" as it's name say's there only small about the size of a cricket ball. They grow on trailing plants so I grow them over an arch and the small fruits hang down. Here's a link for them.
