Should I risk it?

Here's the thing. The local Young Farmers are organising a "Dung Run" in aid of 'Charidee'. One year old Pig and Cow dung �1.50 a bag. Trouble is the organisers can't tell me if their sources use pesticides/herbicides on their fields. She says they do use "fertilisers". Waddaya think? Should I do my bit for charity and order the 20 bags I want and risk it? It would save me a load of trouble if it is ok as they deliver.

I think the best thing to do with anything your not sure about is test it this year and use it over next winter. Dwarf French Beans and Squashes would make a good test crop grown on the top of the bags and if its ok you'll still get a crop from the space!

Do put a bean or two in each bag as well as they're very good indicators of herbicide contamination - just in case the squash should decide on an early bath. Don't try and plant the bags up too early, the crops need to test the contents of the bag, not the elements
