Some may disagree, but I would think save your root trainers for peas and things that you want to have nice deep roots. Your chillies are likely to be kept in the greenhouse and watered every day so don't really need to establish such deep roots. I sow mine 2 seeds to a 2 inch pot and pinch out the weaker one if both germinate. When the roots show at the bottom of the pot I move up a pot size or 2 depending what I have to hand.Happy Gardening,

I've certainly never heard of using Root Trainers for Chillies before. Like the others I only use them for runner beans etc. But who knows, you may hit on something. If you've got Root Trainers lying around doing nothing and a few spare seed why not try some each way and see which does best.Originally posted by Davyburns View PostIs there any benifit in using root trainers for early sown chillis?
There are 10 kinds of people in the world, those that understand binary and those that don't.

I have some root trainers that I bought last year cos they were cheap, and thought I would give em a go, so 32 seeds went in today, and I think the toms/ cues will follow suit - unless I have a tragedy
I only do container, so, apart fom a few spuds and carrots, I dont really "do" proper veg
