    Why would you not recommend a 'cutting' from an old plant - do they lose quality or become more susceptible to disease ? I am asking because I have been offered some rhubarb this weekend that is from a quite old established plant - might it not be a good idea after all ?

      i've planted loads of rhubarb crowns over last couple of years but they all died - still got one crown and it's big and needs splitting - don't want to touch it tho cos i'll probably kill it and have no rhubarb at all .......
