Water Hungry Plants

Hi we have a boggy corner of the allotment and wondered if there were any thirsty plants which would dry out the soil and enjoy the environment.

celery and celeriac should do well in those conditions.
You can root shop bought watercress (in a glass on the windowcill in the spring) which would grow well too

Just read your other post about wanting a pond. Why not kill two birds with one stone and put your pond in the boggy area?

How would this help the boggy area .. I'm confused sorry. If I make the pond with a liner won't it just make the surrounding area just as boggy ? Thanks for the replies

It won't help the boggy area, but unless you can drain it you will have to live with it, so putting the pond there seems a good option. It will encourage wildlife, and you can plant round the edges with semi-aquatic plants for the animals and insects.
