Today's Bargains!

Hi All

This is the first day of my Autumn week's holiday from work!! It's so wet here this morning I can't do anything outside so decided to go for a wander around B&Q and Homebase. The following jumped into my basket in Homebase - 10 purple sprouting brocolli's seedlings (�1.99 reduced to �1.35), 8 Cauliflowers seedlings and about 20 Cos winter lettuce plants (both �1.99 reduced to 99p)!! Bargains There not in prime condition but definately enough life left in them for me to rescue - off to wade/swim to the polytunnel soon - but just wondered if anyone else has "acquired" any great garden bargains recently?

I bought a box of brussels sprouts seedlings for 20p at B&Q over the summer but they all died.

I think you have to be careful with these kinds of "bargains" because you are introducing weaker plants into your patch. These will be at greater risk from pests and diseases and you have to wonder if this will lead to attacks on stronger specimens nearby.

Thanks for that, but, I think they'll be ok. I've planted them at the other "empty" end of the polytunnel. Last year I bought the same purple sprouting brocolli and it was lovely to eat in the Spring.
