Chilli Derformity

Hi Everyone,

I have a problem with my Cayenne plant, it's not a major problem as not all the pods are showing this deformity but there are quite a few that are showing signs of it. Most of the pods are growing straight and some have a slight curl at the tip but some do have this deformity.
Has anybody else ever come across this problem? Or is it a problem at all? this being my first year I'm really not sure.
Any Ideas or thoughts would be much appreciated, thanks.

I had this on a couple of mine last year. It didn't affect the overall crop so I wasn't too worried about it. I'm not sure what causes it, but I'd expect it to be a deformity caused at the pollination stage.

They do look strange, but they should be fine for eating.

I had curly ones last year: I still don't know what causes it. Just make sure you don't have any maggots inside: some of my greenhouse ones do

That piccie looks like the result of a double - or triple - fused flower ....but I've only seen those with tomatoes!....are you aware if the flower looked 'normal'????

I had similar ones last year but they were perfect inside. I put the odd shape down to cold draughts making them curl up to keep warm

Thanks everyone for your input on this subject.
It is pleasing to hear that I'm not the only one who's come across this sort of pod deformity. I have around six different varieties growing at the moment and I've treated them all the same, they get plant feed at the same time and I water them at the same time, the only thing I've done different is pollination. When they all started to flower I was having to self pollinate but over the past few weeks the bees and hoverflies have been out in force so I've let them do the pollinating. So I don't understand why it's just the Cayenne that have this deformity.
The flowers all looked fine aswell and I do check all the plants daily. So if I understand you all correctly, there is nothing to worry about and it's just one of those things but check for maggots before consumption
I should also mention that all my plants are kept outside, constantly, and except for Cayenne all the other plants are doing better than I ever expected.
