Bonus crops?

I've always wondered, just out of interest, if I could make a "crop" out of them

The seeds are nutritious and often added to bread. That's the sort of crop you're on about, right?

I've had a little crop of self-sewn parsnips. I pulled them young and they were luverlee!

We get loads of opium poppies coming up every year around here, I think they used to grow them a long time ago near this area for opium.

One of the oldies at our lottie grows a lot of poppies. He said to my mate "hasve you ever tried eating a poppy leaf" so she did and he then said "has your mouth gone numb yet?" "yes " said she. "ah that'll be the opium them " he said.

I have quite a few volunteer potatoes. I dug some up when doing more clearance last week. Enough for a potato salad, tiny but perfectly formed, yum.

I probably have lots of other volunteers under the uncleared grasses and horsetail, but identifying what they are is an issue I will need to resolve.
I often see what I take to be baby dandelions but they could just as easily be some type of lettuce.

Being in only my second year, I am inclined to leave self sown stuff. It is all a bonus as far as I am concerned, free food is always welcome. I am not at all interested in having a 'tidy' plot or winning any competitions. I just like the thrill of growing my own and eating it.
