Now would be a good time though, should be semi-dormant and will romp away from a pre-prepared planting place, well enriched with rotted manure.

got two big pieces from a in a swap deal this week. Am waiting for dawn then off to get some bags of poo and planting them today.
i've had them in the shed under some compost til i could get sorted and they're sprouting already.

Now, if you've got one. The usual advice is to dig up an established crown during the winter, leave on the surface of the soil to get chilled, cut into as many sections as it will take (you need at least one growing bud per section) and plant the sections in early spring.
