I think a flower bucket is maybe a bit too small. They'll grow to 1sqm, and will need to be fed and watered regularly in containers.
You could do as Jimmy does and successional sow them over a few weeks. You'll need more containers then though....

They are ok now - they will need as much room (and feed and water ) as you can give them if you grow them in pots. I have grown them in a big tub before (1 per tub) but they do far better in open ground - and sprawl too!

Ideally a good loam, or a John Innes No.2 mix, or else ... whatever you've got. MPC is a bit light and fluffy imo

You know you can get the fruit and veg compost - is that any good?

... is a mix of peat and bark. At �7-�8 for 50 litres, it's pretty expensive. B&Q own brand MPC is less than half the price, and it's not organic, but does contain a little organic feed (enough for 6 wks)

There is also the peat argument, which I'm not going into here.

I have grown courgettes sucessfully, though not to "glut" standards, in growbags and in buckets.

I had a glut, which was good because my grandfather had a poor crop. Mine were grown in open soil, I dug a deep hole, plenty of dung in the bottom thin layer of soil then the plant, had loads.

We just plant ours in the soil, leave them and they workfine, had far tomany last year, with 15 plants growing for this summer it will be on the menu an awful lot!

It is my first time at growing any veg brought a couple of courgettes from the local garden center and planted them , at first all was ok little courgettes started to appear but then they seem to be dying off and the leaves yellowing ? we give them a liquid feed as per instructions and plenty of water daily what are we doing wrong ?

Hi Lincslad and welcome to the mad house. A couple of things - first, can you post a photo. One picture etc. Second, I take it from your name that you are growing somewhere in Lincs? This is not an idle question it really helps to answer this sort of question. Perhaps you could be more exact in your personal profile. I suspect that if they have just come from the GC within the week that the cold night we had two or three nights ago may have something to do with it if the GC hasn't hardened them off properly. But without more details it is difficult to give an educated 'guess'.

Yup, six should just about be enough... to feed the whole of your neighbourhood!

I prefer to grow two in a grow bag with 3 upturned plastic milk cartons between for watering.
In grow bags they don't flop around as much as when in big pots.
Also, if you look at attachment, I poke short canes around the plant, this stops them flopping about in the wind.
Finally I prefer the yellow ones to the green, they seem less watery.
Mine are against the house wall sheltered under eaves.

yes I am in Lincs ,I brought them from a very reputable GC and on there advice left them out during the day and in a greenhouse at night for about a week before planting them. I have them in a raised bed which is filled with a mixture of topsoil, manure, compost and soil conditioner ,not sure if went over the top with organic matter , but I suppose it is trial and error
